Desks Part Two

I had a vision of side-by-side workspaces, where Rusty and I could work merrily together, each of us sipping tea and typing away at our personalized desks.  You see side-by-side desks all the time on places like Lifehacker, always with impeccable cord management.  It is a vision of calm productivity.

So now that I had my own customized painted desk, I had to make one for Rusty too.  I snagged another Craislister and considered my options.  I wanted something personalized that would not clash with the blue desk.

Ultimately, I ended up with this:

The drawers are covered with photos that Rusty took, generally of rocks.  The photos are printed on regular acid free paper and mod podged onto the desk, which I primed and painted white.  I hand painted the trim around the drawers black.

The knobs were cheapo ones from Amazon, which I spray painted with a Krylon yellow.

Everything got sealed with polyacrylic.  Easy peasy.

The question remains: will we ever realize the dream of working simultaneously at side-by-side desks?  I better go clear off that pile of Jo-Ann coupons from mine first.
